Waste to Energy: how our team is expanding its portfolio with progressive sustainability-focused projects

Having completed works at the Baldovie Waste to Energy plant at Dundee, we are bringing our expertise to a number of other projects in the UK. Here colleague Jamie Gibson explains more…

We were delighted to have provided a detailed fire strategy for Baldovie. Since completion, the scheme has received the Acceptance of Completion Certificate for the Building Warrant – something that certifies the construction was completed in accordance with stringent Scottish standards.

Our team did a great job at Baldovie, where we had a complex remit of not only prioritising fire life safety of building occupants, but also ensuring business continuity – making sure that the site can remain operational in case of fire. Through client collaboration and regular dialogue with insurers we developed a fire strategy which integrated life safety, business continuity and property protection objectives into fully co-ordinated approach. Our team also supported the site team throughout the construction process.

Now for 2023, we’re building on that experience with more new projects in the energy to waste sector – giving us the opportunity to transfer our expertise. Among the new projects is a similar facility in Deeside on behalf of LOGIK Limited (pictured here).

And our team will also soon undertake work to prepare a fire engineering strategy for Brockwell Energy in Grangemouth, with early design stage works underway.

It’s rewarding that our expertise in this area has been recognised within the industry, through our appointment on further work and we look forward to taking on more projects across the UK as we protect people, place and planet.”
