Janine and Sam recognised as award-winning women in fire safety
Huge congratulations to our award-winning team who’ve scooped even more awards this week.
Our London-based Fire Engineer Janine Osbourne has been awarded the Women in Fire Safety Woman of the Year Awards, beating off competition from across the country. Speaking of her achievement Janine said: “I am truly humbled to win this award. As a young girl growing up in Kingston, Jamaica, I really couldn’t have ever imagined achieving such goals and I want to thank my colleagues and OFR for their support in helping me to this point.
“I also want to acknowledge all of the brilliant women working in my field – and across engineering. This award is not for me, but for every single woman who has worked tirelessly and fought to make their way into this industry; we have collectively made our mark, establishing great careers and doing great things. I thank the organisers of the WIFS Awards for giving so many brilliant women a platform tonight.”
A second award was presented on the night to our colleague Sam Bryant, who was crowned as the Rising Star of the Year. Edinburgh-based Sam is on a successful run of awards having also won the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Up and Coming Fire Engineer for 2021; judges praised her commitment to STEM and flying the flag for women who want to become engineers.
Congratulating both colleagues, OFR director Ryan McCreadie said: “I am incredibly proud of the achievements of our team this year, who continue to garner the attentions of their industry peers and our clients. Colleagues like Janine and Sam embody everything that OFR is about, delivering world-class work that helps protect people and places.”
