Investing in future talent; OFR welcomes eight new colleagues in September – taking staff headcount to 115

In a period of rapid growth, leading fire engineering consultancy OFR has appointed eight new colleagues to its UK wide team – seven of whom are graduate fire engineers.

The new appointments have joined OFR offices in Scotland and London, supporting the team as they deliver multi-million-pound projects, offering fire engineering advice to clients including Related Argent, British Land and the NHS.

In London, four graduate fire engineers join the team, including Sebastian Garzon Tello who has just completed his Masters degree. Sebastian is joined by Muthia Kharirunisa – an IMFSE graduate – and Chloe Harrop who recently graduated from the University of Sheffield. The team is joined by David Methven who recently completed a Masters in Structural Fire Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.

Speaking of their appointment Sam Liptrott of OFR Consultants said: “We are firmly committed to investing in the fire engineers of the future and each year we prioritise our graduate programme, touring universities up and down the country to meet the best budding talent.

“This new cohort of colleagues are a joy to be around, with diverse backgrounds and experience and an appetite to take on the rewarding challenges of a career in this sector.”

Other appointments include Ryan Venzon who joins OFR’s team in Bicester; Ryan is

an IMFSE graduate who also holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering. Three other appointments come North of the border where fire engineer Ben Dempsey – whose past body of work includes consulting on logistics centres for Amazon – and graduate fire engineer Will Everitt who both join the OFR Edinburgh team, while Stephen McCrossan joins the team in Glasgow.

The appointments take the OFR team to more 115 colleagues, with a continued year-on-year growth reflecting OFR’s success in delivering high quality, technically led, tailored fire safety solutions on projects across the UK and around the world. Since its inception in Manchester in 2016, it has extended its reach across the country, opening offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Oxford, Bath and London.

Sam concluded: “In 2016 when we started out it was just myself and my co-founder Simon, so I’m incredibly proud to have developed our business and grown our team so significantly since then; it’s something that we have done carefully through nurturing a strong culture and investing in great people.”
