Wherever you are in the UK, our regional teams give each graduate the support they need to become a trusted and valued fire engineer.
We will provide you with many opportunities to develop the skills you need to succeed. As a graduate, you will work alongside experienced engineers from all parts of our business, supporting project delivery from day one, allowing you to develop your technical and project delivery skills.
Our teams are currently working on projects across the UK: from Inverness to Portsmouth, Norwich to Cardiff, and supporting unique overseas projects in locations such as the Falklands and Antarctica.
We work with leading architects, researchers, developers, and contractors to deliver projects that combine technical excellence with practical solutions — from large-scale, high-rise developments to local community projects.
Our ambitious team is made up of great problem solvers and communicators, people who have joined us based on the opportunities we provide — affording them the chance to learn and grow on the job.
Fire engineering is a diverse discipline, and the skills we look for in our graduates reflects that. Our team includes people with fire engineering degrees as well as those with backgrounds such as civil, mechanical and aeronautical engineering, surveying, physics and mathematics. Whatever your STEM skillset, OFR will give you the chance to learn and grow on the job.
We believe that diversity of experience and different mindsets bring a fresh perspective to every working challenge, so we make sure that everyone in the team can do their job well, whatever their needs, circumstances and background. We welcome applications from all candidates, including those from underrepresented groups in engineering such as women, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, people with disabilities and those from socially or economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
If you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know, we are happy to support you.
We are a friendly bunch. We enjoy working together and building relationships based on common interests and fun — being ourselves is an important part of the business and because of this we value the importance of a work-life balance by encouraging flexible working.
We offer a unique package of benefits, such as an additional day’s leave for your birthday, providing support to individuals who wish to undertake voluntary work each year and a social budget to allow you to get to know your colleagues without financial barriers.
Every autumn we open our graduate programme to students with degrees in wide range of disciplines. From your first day, you will be supported through mentoring, training, and project work, while collaborating with other graduates and experienced colleagues. A personal development plan will help guide your progress and ensure you build the skills needed for a successful career in fire engineering.

“ Coming over from New Zealand, I was looking for a company that was welcoming, friendly, and worked on exciting large projects, with plenty of experience I could learn from. OFR ticked all of those boxes. Since joining, I’ve found the culture to be both supportive and professional, which has made a big difference to my growth as a graduate. ”
