Exciting News for the Future of Sustainable Construction
As you may have seen on our social channels, last month we launched the UK’s first Commercial Timber Guidebook.
The project is spearheaded by Elliott Wood, OFR Consultants and Waugh Thistleton Architects, working with specialist insurance consultants Lignum Risk Partners to engage the wider insurance sector. This ground-breaking guide represents a major step-forward in supporting the use of sustainable timber in office buildings.
The guidebook aims to provide technical guidance to those undertaking structural timber projects and addresses common challenges that face timber construction including fire-safety, durability, moisture and obtaining appropriate property insurance.
The project, kickstarted with a grant from the Built by Nature network, also attracted co-funding and support from major developers Stanhope PLC, British Land, Lendlease, Related Argent, Derwent, Landsec, MUSE, Berkeley Estate Asset Management (BEAM) and Great Portland Estates – all seeking to overcome existing barriers to mass timber adoption.
We’re excited to contribute to this worthy project, serving both the UK real estate sectors and the insurance industry.
