Supporting the mental health needs of colleagues in construction

Our colleague and Technical Director Alan Curran is once again training up to support the Lighthouse Club Charity. As part of the Glencar team, he will be using his OFR Better Days leave allocation to cycle a challenging 210 miles from Leitrim to Killarney in just three days next month to raise funds and awareness of mental health amongst construction workers and their families.

It’s a shocking statistic that two construction workers take their own life every working day in the UK – the Lighthouse Club is the only charity here that undertakes vital work to provide support to people within the sector and also their impacted families.

The cycle, which is set to take place on 15-19 May is aiming to raise £200,000 and supporters can donate via the justGiving page here.

Alan said: “I am honoured to have been invited by Glencar to be a member of their team for this event again, having undertaken it in 2022 also. Raising £200K will be no mean feat, but like many others within our industry we recognise how important the Lighthouse Club’s work is in providing so many affected people with emotional and financial help when they need it most. I’m excited to be involved again and take on this epic challenge by using my Better Days paid leave!”
