Showing our support for Forever Manchester

We’re big fans of Forever Manchester, donating to the organisation and supporting its events throughout the year. This week, ten of our colleagues showed their love for the charity, attending a birthday party celebration and sponsoring an award, and here our colleague Helen Buckley tells us more.

We had a great time at this year’s Forever Manchester birthday party, an event that brought 400 passionate and dedicated supporters together at the Kimpton Clocktower – raising an incredible £89,000!

The party was a celebration of the charity’s work in helping people doing extraordinary things in their local communities. After the challenges of recent years, it was a particularly celebratory night, reminding us of the importance of community and human connection; host Tony Walsh – best known for his Manchester poetry – and Captain Manchester caught the mood and captured the attentions of all in the room.

The pinnacle of the night was an awards ceremony honouring those who’ve gone the extra mile this year. A full list of winners is below and OFR was proud to sponsor the Outstanding Community Contribution Award won by Denton West End Community Library

Our thanks to the organisers on what was a truly entertaining and inspirational night that also featured pianist Georgia Clark, as well as performances from local community groups The Circus HouseBolton Mandhata Youth and Manchester Proud Chorus.

Fat Cat Brass Band concluded the evening off with a surprise performance, after their popular debut at last year’s Birthday Party, before Martin Holland took to the decks with a DJ set that kept everyone up and dancing until the early hours.

Congratulations to all involved – there was certainly something special in the air, resulting in a record-breaking amount of money raised, something that will help more great people and community groups in 2023.
